CFCO has set a new goal. It is to deliver St. Charles County a very special present: The Devine Liberty Swing. This very special Liberty Swing is a state of the art playground swing that locks wheelchairs into the swing and allows children and adults with disabilities
to soar high into the air without the trouble of leaving their chair! No longer will St. Charles County handicapped children have to sit on the sidelines and watch while their brothers and sisters play. There is only one other Liberty Swing in Missouri and only about a dozen in the United States! The swing will be installed in Cottleville's new city park adjacent to the existing traditional swings. Our fundraising goal for the Divine Liberty Swing is $35,000. This will cover the cost to purchase, assemble and install the swing. You can help take part in bringing a Liberty Swing to Cottleville by donating to this cause. Your donation will be used exclusively in the purchase and setup of the swing. Please visit www.libertyswing.com.au to watch a video, see pictures and read more about the Devine Liberty Swing. Thanks for your Support! On August 14th, CFCO is hosting a motorcycle poker run to raise funds to bring a Devine Liberty Swing to Cottleville. The Liberty Swing is a specialized playground swing that allows handicapped children and adults to fully experience the fun of going to the park. This swing allows handicapped individuals to actually swing in their wheelchair! The CFCO Liberty Swing Poker Run will begin and end at St. Charles Harley Davidson (3830 W. Clay) in St. Charles. It will stop at four other locations in northern St. Charles County with food and drink available at each stop. After the run, their will be BBQ available for purchase and live music between 2 and 5 PM at St. Charles Harley Davidson. Entry fee is $20 and additional hands are available for $5. 1st prize is $300 cash, 2nd prize is $200, and 3rd prize is $100. Registration will begin at 9 AM and the last bike out will be 11 AM. All bikes should be back at St. Charles Harley by 3 PM and an awards ceremony will begin shortly after. All proceeds of the event will go towards the purchase of a Liberty Swing. For more information about the Liberty Swing and to watch a video of the swing, please visit www.libertyswing.com.au . The first poker card will be issued at the first stop, which will be Shirley's Bar & Grill on N. Hwy 94. Cottleville Firefighters Community Outreach (CFCO) would like to announce that we are launching a new program to help victims of house fires in our community. Our new “Threads of Care” program will collect used or new clothes and shoes that will be given to families that lose their clothing in a fire.
The collected clothes will be sorted by age and gender and stored in ready to use totes at the firehouse. It is our goal to accumulate a large inventory of clothes for children of all ages and adults of all sizes. To accomplish this goal, we will need assistance from area businesses and residents. We will be accepting donations of unwanted clothes and/or shoes that are unstained and in good condition. We will also be seeking to setup donation drop-off locations at area businesses. If you would like to donate clothes and/or shoes or setup a drop-off location, please contact the program director, Cathy Elsea at 636-290-5262. It is the mission of CFCO to provide whatever is needed to promote recovery and to minimize the tremendous burden that is left upon families after a house fire. “Threads of Care” will greatly assist us in the achievement of our mission. Any and all support will be greatly appreciated.
